As an Islay malt, the sea has always been a fundamental element of Ardbeg, adding an iodine touch to the flavour profile of the various whiskies in the range. Ardbeg Corryvreckan is a singular whisky with a different ageing style to Ardbeg Ten Years Old and Ardbeg Uigeadail. This raw cask whisky is partially aged in French oak casks. Rooted in the spirit of our Hebridean home, we were inspired by the ancient Celtic legend of the Gulf of Corryvreckan, located a few miles north of the distillery. Corryvreckan is said to be the largest whirlpool in Europe. Powerful aromas with deep, peaty and peppery flavours are revealed when tasting this remarkably well balanced whisky.
